Want to help?
  • Outreach: Can you help with outreach for the event? Share the webpage, the Facebook event, or even download a flyer (pdf) to email or print.
  • Volunteer: Want to help out at the event? We need people to work with us during the coin and clothing drive. It's a lot of fun and a great, short, outdoor volunteer activity for families, individuals, anyone willing to help. Email me at info@secondchances.org for details.
  • Sponsor: We're seeking a few great event sponsors. Get excellent publicity for your company or organization and your support will sustain our program and the people we support all year long. Details (pdf)

Special Thanks!
This spring was very busy for Second Chances with more than 15 clothing drives, a houseparty to raise much-needed funds for our program, our Annual Meeting, and we've provided carefully selected clothing and more to 125 people so far this year.

Thank you to everyone who helped out through clothing donations and clothing drives and to board member Daniele Levine and her wonderful friends who supported our work at a lovely houseparty earlier this month. I am so grateful for the kind and generous volunteers, individuals and businesses we work with - your actions and words make such a positive difference in the lives of people in need.

Massachusetts Tornado Assistance
We've gotten several inquiries from people who are interested in helping out in communities that were affected by the recent Massachusetts tornadoes. The best resource that I know of for disaster assistance is the American Red Cross. More about helping through the Red Cross »

If you know of other good organizations that are assisting people in need in Central and Western Massachusetts, please let me know! Because Second Chances is very small and very, very local, we just don't have the capacity to help people outside of our current service area of Somerville and Cambridge.

I hope to see you at our clothing drive next week, or somewhere else this summer.

Warmly,

Andrea Shapiro
Founder and President/CEO
