Community Charter School of Cambridge
Holiday Clothing and Coin Drive for Second Chances

From Tuesday, December 1 through Monday, December 21, 2009, the National Honor Society ran its annual Holiday Clothing and Coin Drive to benefit Second Chances, a Cambridge- and Somerville-based nonprofit that provides free clothing to people in need in Cambridge and Somerville.

Thank you to all who participated!

Community Charter School of Cambridge's clothing drive was a tremendous success -- you and your classmates donated $232 in coins and 1,033 pounds of clothing, shoes and accessories to help people in need in our community and support a local nonprofit. Thank you!

We are so grateful to you for hosting and participating in this clothing and coin drive, and especially to Marianna Zimbardo for enthusiastically initiating and coordinating this successful clothing and coin drive this year and last year.

Second Chances recycles all plastic bags and paper packaging from these drives, thanks to the City of Cambridge's Recycling Program.

Other ways you can help
Second Chances is entering its sixth year of operation and our needs are still immense. Right now, our biggest obstacle is funding - while we can operate on a small scale with volunteer labor and donated space and materials, we need to raise the funds to staff our program and become fully operational. Second Chances can benefit from financial contributions to support and expand our programs and operations. Financial contributions are 100% tax-deductible.

If you are interested in making a financial contribution, please send it to us separately or donate through the coin drive, do not include it with your clothing donation.
