Since 2005, Triumvirate has collected clothing for Second Chances, a Somerville-based organization that provides clothing to people living in homeless shelters and receiving social services in Somerville and Cambridge. Triumvirate employees have donated more than 4,000 pounds of clothing, and provided labor and transportation for other institutional clothing drives as well. You are helping the earth, people in need in Somerville and Cambridge, and supporting a small, local nonprofit by donating your un-needed clothing, shoes and accessories to Second Chances.

Thanks to the City of Cambridge's Recycling Program, Second Chances is able to recycle all plastic bags and paper packaging from your clothing donations drives as well.

Moving? Cleaning? Making room for clothing you like better? Your used clothing, shoes and accessories can make a difference in another person's life.

To donate: Place your clothing, shoes and accessories in a plastic garbage bag (no hangers, please).

What to donate: Second Chances can use just about anything that is still wearable - children's, women's and men's sizes; casual, work and dress styles; clothing, shoes and accessories. We can even make good use of household linens like towels, sheets, tablecloths, and cloth napkins, as long as they are in decent condition. We especially need men's clothing and larger sizes of women's clothing. In season, last season, vintage, unusual clothing - what we cannot use will be recycled or sold to support our operations.

Tax information: If you need a receipt for tax purposes, you should keep an inventory of your donated items and attach your name and address to the outside of the bag. If you would like a receipt and are donating more than one bag of clothing, please attach your name and the total number of bags to each additional bag.

Other ways you can help
Second Chances is entering its fourth year of operation and our needs are still immense. Right now, our biggest obstacle is funding - while we can operate on a small scale with volunteer labor and donated space and materials, we need to raise the funds to staff our program and become fully operational. Second Chances can benefit from financial contributions to support and expand our programs and operations. Financial contributions are 100% tax-deductible.

If you are interested in making a financial contribution, please send it to us separately - do not include it with your clothing donation.
