Cambridge and Somerville providers
Second Chances provides clothing to homeless and very low-income people in Cambridge and Somerville by working with the local homelessness and social service agencies where they receive shelter and services. We welcome you to work with us to provide clothing to the people you serve. Second Chances' clothing donation program is unique in the way we work almost invisibly through existing service providers, so that the people in need of clothing don't have to go one place for job training and another for benefits counseling and still another for clothing. We make their already difficult lives a little easier by delivering the clothing they need where and when they need it. This allows us to operate more efficiently as well -- we can effectively reach hundreds of people who need clothing through the network of existing homelessness and social service providers like your organization. We are specialized and flexible enough to be able to create an individualized delivery option that will meet your agency's needs. Opportunities to access clothing for your clientsGift cards
We currently have $25 gift cards from The Garment District, a large, local clothing store in Kendall Square, Cambridge that specializes in affordable used clothing, shoes and accessories, and carries new clothing, shoes and accessories as well. At The Garment District, $25 can buy one outfit or more, if someone is creative. The store is accessible by public transportation. If you have a client in need of clothing, shoes or accessories for a job interview, court date, everyday use, or other situation, please use the form below to request a gift certificate, and we can either send or drop off a gift card for you to give your client. Second Chances will distribute cards based on date of request, need, impact, and equity. Clothing

We have a good supply of beautiful children's shoes donated by our friends at Morgan & Milo. Available sizes are primarily toddlers (we have toddler sizes 7-12 available - including a lot of 8s), with a few larger pairs (up to youth size 2), and a few pairs of infant size 4. Girls and boys/unisex styles available. Let us know what your clients need, and we'll let you know if we've got it.Contact Us » Special individualized clothing programs
We are actively seeking proposals for unique and efficient ways to provide clothing for your clients. For example, at one shelter with fairly predictable clothing needs, we regularly deliver jeans, sweatshirts and winter coats for their clients and take away other clothing donations that they are not able to use. At another program with less predictable, more emergency-like needs, we provide specific clothing for individual clients and families as the need arises.
We would be happy to talk with you about what would work best for your organization and clients, and what will work for us. Please contact us about your needs and ideas. |
